Watch the emotional reunion: Japanese son reunites with Indian father after 19 years

Punjab: In a touching story, a father from Amritsar, Punjabreunited with his son from Japan after 19 years of separation.

The man, identified as Sukhpal Singh, a resident of Amritsar, met a Japanese woman named Sachie in Thailand and later married her. The couple moved to Chiba Ken, near Tokyo, where their son, Rin, was born in 2003.

However, the couple soon faced many challenges and separated. Singh returned to India, while Rin grew up in Japan without her father and lost all contact with her family.

Rin, now a student at Osaka University of Arts in Japan, traveled to Punjab to reunite with his long-lost father. A video of the emotional moment when father and son hugged each other after almost two decades apart went viral on social media and generated emotional reactions from users.

Sukhpal Singh told ANI, “My son searched for me tirelessly using a photograph and asking people about me. I can hardly believe that I am meeting my son; it feels like a dream and I hope it never ends.”

She added: “Meeting my son was always in my heart; how could I forget him?”

A family tree project motivated Rin to find his father when he realized he had no connection to his father’s family. With only a photograph and the help of Google Maps, Rin was determined to find his father. Despite many challenges, Rin was finally able to rekindle a new relationship with his father on August 18.
