She then appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport for a joint silver medal; however, her application was rejected, leaving her and her supporters heartbroken.
Phogat was emotional upon reaching the airport and videos of her are going viral on social media, triggering an outpouring of sympathy and support. The pictures that surfaced also show fellow wrestlers Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia by her side, holding the tricolour aloft.

Golden Ladoos: A warm welcome in a village
A procession is being held on the outskirts of Gurugram with makeshift loudspeakers blaring Haryanvi music. According to a report in the Indian Express, a total of 750 kg of boondi ladoos have been prepared for the villagers to welcome Vinesh at the Hanuman Mandir in Balali village. “The golden ladoos are to welcome the golden girl of our village. It is a big day for all of us and we are lucky to have got the opportunity to make the ladoos,” said the halwai Mandeep Swami. Several villages will honour the wrestler on her way to the village.
