What is Samvat trading, timings, dates and everything you need to know?

Trade Samvat 2024: Stock markets open for an hour on Diwali day to mark the beginning of the new Samvat, also known as the Hindu New Year and Laxmi Puja, the goddess of wealth. Samvat Trading assumes enormous spiritual and religious significance among traders and businessmen as they make new books of accounts on the day of Samvat and make auspicious investments in stocks and commodities.

The stock exchanges will notify in due course the timing of Muhurat trading on Diwali day. Usually Muhurat trading on Samvat day is carried out for one hour in the afternoon.

This year, Samvat 2081 will begin on Diwali day i.e. Friday, November 1. In Samvat 2080, which will end on October 31, stock markets rewarded investors handsomely as the benchmark index Sensex jumped by a whopping 26 per cent with many individual investors. The stock more than doubled, thus creating enormous wealth for stock investors.

Samvat 2081: Negotiation in the Muhurat session

Stock broking companies will allow investors to make transactions or investments in the Diwali Muhurat trading session as per the trading schedule announced by the stock exchanges. Trades made during the Muhurat session will be settled on the next business day as Diwali is a market holiday for clearing houses like NSDL and CSDL.

In the Muhurat Trading session last year, Sensex and Nifty advanced 0.54 per cent.
