WhatsApp changes the green verification badge to a blue check mark: everything you need to know

Meta-owned WhatsApp decided to streamline its verification system and changed all green verification ticks on its business accounts and channels to blue ticks to maintain a trusted verification identity across all Meta platforms. The blue ticks aim to improve user trust by ensuring authenticity. It will also help people differentiate between real businesses and potential imitators, encouraging safe communication with certified accounts.

This change was first spotted in the recent WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.16. 10. 72 and the new update replaces the old green badge. As Meta already uses a blue tick to designate verified accounts on its other social media platforms like Threads, Instagram, and Facebook, the company has now rolled out the same feature to WhatsApp as well. As of now, this feature is accessible to some users who have downloaded the latest versions of the WhatsApp beta for iOS, however, a wider rollout is expected to take place within a couple of weeks. The new feature is similar to Meta’s verification tool, which was launched by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg about two months ago for some businesses.

Meta also recently introduced the Meta AI service for its popular messaging platform WhatsApp, which aims to help users perform daily tasks or certain creative works. This tool was previously introduced last year at Meta Connect. The new tool is backed or powered by the latest AI model Llama 3. Today, Meta AI services are available for WhatsApp users in India after it was introduced for other WhatsApp users worldwide in April this year.
