Agoda reveals where Indians book their next vacation
Are you planning a trip abroad but dreading the visa application process? Agodaa leading digital travel platform, has revealed the top five visa-free destinations that will be trending among Indian travelers in 2024, based on accommodation booking data.
Thailand Top of the chartsThailand is a favourite destination for Indians and is once again the most popular visa-free option, having seen a surge in accommodation searches following the introduction of a visa waiver for Indian tourists in November 2023. This surge is reflected in a double-digit increase in interest from Indian travellers in the island nation.
Another exciting trend emerges with MalaysiaMalaysia’s jump from eighth place in 2023 to fourth in the first half of 2024. Following a similar visa waiver implemented last December, Malaysia’s rise signifies the significant impact relaxed visa policies have on inbound tourism.
Rounding out the top five visa-free destinations for Indian travellers are Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Nepal. Each offers unique experiences, from the stunning beaches of Indonesia to the majestic Himalayas of Nepal. Krishna Rathi, Senior Director for India at Agoda, commented: “Indian travellers’ interest in these visa-free destinations underscores the importance of hassle-free travel. Indian travellers are increasingly looking for destinations that offer convenience and a variety of experiences without the need to endure lengthy visa procedures.”
