Kannauj News: The Samajwadi Party (SP) has distanced itself from Nawab Singh Yadav, who was arrested in the case of attempted rape of a minor girl. It has become clear that Nawab Singh has nothing to do with the party. Samajwadi Party Kannauj district president Kaleem Khan issued a letter saying, Nawab Singh Yadav is not a member of the Samajwadi Party in any way. He was involved in anti-party activities for about 5 years and is neither one of the first members nor an active member of the party. Kalim Khan said that this is a personal matter of Nawab Singh Yadav and this incident has nothing to do with SP.
BJP targets Samajwadi Party
The incident also sparked a political controversy as the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) targeted the Samajwadi Party (SP) by claiming that the accused was a close aide of party leader Dimple Yadav when she was the Lok Sabha MP from Kannauj. The BJP has described the accused Yadav as a Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and close to SP chief Akhilesh Yadav.
Police arrested Nawab Singh Yadav on Sunday evening.
According to police, Nawab Singh Yadav, principal of Chaudhary Chandan Singh College located in Kannauj Kotwali area and former SP block chief, was arrested on Sunday evening on charges of attempt to rape. Besides, a minor girl was also recovered from the college. Superintendent of Police (SP) Amit Kumar Anand said that following the complaint by the victim’s mother, the police have registered a case under relevant sections including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. He said that the minor has been medically examined and his statement has been recorded. He said that on Sunday evening, the police received a complaint that the accused attempted to rape the girl.
