Who was Illia Golem? The world’s “most monstrous” Belarusian bodybuilder dies

Illia Golem Yefimchyk, a Belarusian bodybuilder known for his massive physique, has passed away at the age of 36.

He reportedly suffered a heart attack on September 6, fell into a coma, and died on September 11.

His wife, Anna, tried to save him with chest compressions while waiting for an ambulance. She said that although his heart resumed beating for two days, his brain had stopped functioning.

“I spent every day with him, hoping he would recover. His heart started beating again for two days, but doctors informed me that his brain had stopped functioning,” Anna told local media.

“I thank everyone for their condolences. It is very comforting to realise that I am not alone in this world and that so many people have offered me help and support,” she added.

Yefimchyk, nicknamed “The Mutant”, was 1.80 metres tall and weighed 154 kilos.

He ate seven meals a day and maintained his 25-inch biceps by consuming up to 16,500 calories a day. His strict diet included more than five pounds of steak and more than 100 pieces of sushi.

Yefimchyk gained fame after competing and sharing her routines online despite never competing in professional bodybuilding events.

He claimed to perform a 600-pound bench press, a 700-pound deadlift, and a 700-pound squat.
