Who was Ruksana Bano? Odisha singer’s mysterious death shocks fans

Ruksana Bano, a talented Sambalpuri singer from Orissa She tragically passed away on 19 September 2024 at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. She was just 27 years old and had been hospitalized since 27 August due to serious health complications.

Her family has levelled alarming allegations, claiming that she was a victim of “slow poisoning” by a fellow artist from Sambalpuri. While hospital sources indicated that Ruksana was undergoing treatment for scrub typhus, they are yet to confirm the exact cause of her death.

Ruksana’s contributions to Orissa Odisha’s music scene greatly enriched its cultural heritage, so his untimely demise was a significant loss for his fans as well as the music fraternity. His popular songs such as “Mehkega Dil Ka Angan”, “Pardes Me Hai Sajaan” and “Teri Ankho Me Hai Jaadu” were huge hits in the Odisha music industry.

According to her sister, Ruby Bano, Ruksana fell ill while shooting for a video in Bolangir after consuming a juice. She was initially admitted to a hospital in Bhawanipatna but was later shifted to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Bolangir as her condition worsened. She was eventually shifted to a private hospital in Bargarh and then to AIIMS Bhubaneswar when her health showed no improvement.

Both her mother and sister said Ruksana received threats from a rival singer, although they did not reveal the individual’s identity.
