United States presidential election: Hindus for America First, a newly formed grassroots organization, has announced that it will endorse Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and launch a campaign against Democratic vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris in the key states of Pennsylvania, Georgia and North Carolina.
Announcing the decision on Thursday, Hindus for America First president and founder Utsav Sanduja said Harris would be “very destabilizing for Indo-US relations.”
“The concern is that if Kamala becomes president of the United States, then it could put some liberal wolves on the court who could reverse the Supreme Court’s decision on this (and) that impacts Asian American voters,” he said.
The Biden-Harris administration has failed to keep the border secure. Harris is second in command after President Joe Biden and has done nothing to stem the flow of illegal immigrants into the United States, he said.
“As a result of all these illegal immigrants, we’ve seen record crime, record drug trafficking… and this ends up affecting minority communities, particularly many of the Asian-American business owners,” he said.
Sanduja, meanwhile, praised Trump’s efforts to make the immigration system more merit-based. He also praised the former president’s efforts to boost defense and technology cooperation with India.
Trump is “very pro-India.” He has managed to cultivate an excellent relationship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and collaborate on numerous defense projects that will allow India to confront China, he said.
Unlike Harris, who made many “derogatory remarks” about the Indian government and people, Trump did not interfere in the country’s internal affairs, Sanduja said.
“Kamala Harris would be very destabilising for India-US relations,” he said.
He said Hindus for America First is organizing efforts among Hindus in swing states like Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona and Nevada against Harris.
Sanduja said the global Hindu community is concerned about the attacks against Hindus in Bangladesh.
“We request all political entities concerned to raise this issue,” he said, adding that Hindus in Bangladesh are suffering.
“I give a lot of credit to President Trump. Under his leadership, the State Department recognised the persecution of Hindus in various parts of the subcontinent, such as in Afghanistan… Pakistan, it was President Trump who took the lead in recognising the Hindu genocide,” he said.
