“He had applied for a visa, filled all the columns of the form and submitted the necessary documents, but his application was rejected. The reason is not known,” a family member said, PTI reported.

“His remarkable contributions to the field of sculpture have caught our attention and we believe that his artistic vision will greatly enrich our conference. His work embodies the spirit of creativity and innovation, qualities that align perfectly with the objectives of our event,” reads the invitation letter, as cited by Hindustan Times.

Who is Arun Yogiraj?

Hailing from a family legacy of five generations of renowned sculptors in Mysore, Arun Yogiraj has emerged as the most sought-after sculptor in the country.

With a background in carving since childhood, Arun pursued an MBA and briefly worked in the corporate sector before returning to his inherent passion for sculpture in 2008.

He has sculpted several popular statues including the 12-feet high idol of Adi Shankaracharya which has been placed at Kedarnath and the statue of Subhas Chandra Bose which has been installed near the India Gate in Delhi. His other works include the 21-feet high Hanuman statue at Chunchanakatte in Mysore district, the 15-feet high statue of Dr BR Ambedkar, a white Amritashila statue of Swami Ramakrishna Paramahamsa in Mysore, the six-feet high monolithic statue of Nandi, the six-feet high statue of Banashankari Devi and a 4.5-feet high white Amrita Shila statue of Mysore King Jayachamarajendra Wodeyar.
