Why were elections held in J&K after 50 years to elect the government for 5 years? Modi’s minister told an interesting story

Rbharat Summit 2024: While attending the Republic of India Summit, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh spoke openly about the Bharatiya Janata Party’s performance in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. From the platform of Republic, he also spoke about the changing landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.

Article 370 was a major issue in the Jammu and Kashmir elections. Regarding 370, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said, “I feel that the 370 issue is no longer just for the public. No political party can function without the voice of the public. Congress didn’t even talk about this. Congress did not speak openly about Article 370 because it felt that the entire country would have to pay the price. The youth do not want to deprive themselves of countless opportunities under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. Three generations were victims of terror. In the elections not a single separatist slogan was raised. After almost 50 years, elections were held in Jammu and Kashmir to form a five-year government. People also came openly to vote. The common man has begun to understand that under the guise of 370, he suffered losses and those with political interests benefited. ,

Why were elections held in Jammu and Kashmir after 50 years for a five-year government?

Dr Jitendra Singh said, “When Indira Gandhi imposed Emergency in 1975, it was also amended in the 42nd and 43rd amendments that the term of the Lok Sabha Assembly was increased from 5 to 6 years. Just three years later, the period was reverted to five years under the Morraji Desai government. However, there was a National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir, in which Sheikh Abdullah was present. He immediately made the decision for a six-year term. But when it was withdrawn after three years, the other law was not modified under the guise of 370. The people who defended 370 used it. Ordinary people have nothing to do with this.”

The Union Minister further said that the central law benefiting a particular power holder was adopted in Jammu and Kashmir. The double policy of Congress was exposed before the people. First of all, we should ask Congress if it is in favor of 370 or not. Congress is for 370 in Kashmir, against in Jammu and nowhere in Delhi. Congress is in alliance. He should have made that clear before the election.

What did Dr Jitendra Singh say about BJP’s performance in Jammu and Kashmir?

Regarding the performance of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Jammu and Kashmir, the Union Minister said that the BJP is no longer untouchable. Compared to the past, for those who have seen the past, there was a time when there was no one to hoist the BJP flag in the valley. We had to find and remove the officer. Today BJP workers are present in every house. Our vote share in this election is higher than North Carolina’s. Earlier, BJP’s vote share in the valley was only one and a half to two per cent, but now it has increased to 6 per cent. This means we got votes in Kashmir Valley too.
