NCERT: The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has proposed a new assessment pattern for the class 12 board examination, under this pattern the marks obtained by the students from class 9 to class 11 will be included. Also, vocational and skill-based training will also be promoted under this new pattern. Let us tell you that this proposed report by NCERT was prepared after discussions with 32 boards, which took almost a year.

The Board Equivalency Report has been prepared and published by the new NCERT organization, “Parakh”, which was handed over to the Ministry of Education in June 2024. The NCERT organization, Parakh, has planned to bring all the boards of the country on a par under the New Education Policy. Through this report, it has been proposed that as per the new assessment model, class 11 marks will be given 25 percent weightage in the class 12 board result. Similarly, 20 percent weightage should be given to class 10 marks and 15 percent weightage to class 9 marks. The remaining 40 percent marks will be for the 12th board examination.
NCERT: There will be two types of assessments
The assessment will be divided into two sections, formative and summative. The marks for class 9 will be 70 per cent formative and 30 per cent summative, while in class 10, there will be 50 per cent summative and 50 per cent formative. Talking about class 11, there will be 40 per cent formative assessment and 60 per cent summative. In the class 12 board, there will be 30 per cent formative assessment and 70 per cent summative.
NCERT: Skill-based training to get a boost
This NCERT report also talks about giving importance to vocational and skill-based training, coding, app development, artificial intelligence, music, arts and crafts to promote holistic learning under the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020). Based on these courses, the proposal to make them mandatory is also included in the report.
