Rourkela News: Women have opened a front against the illegal sale of liquor in ward no. 10 of Birmitrapur municipality. The women came together and submitted a memorandum to Birmitrapur police station, Excise Department and Municipal EO on Wednesday, demanding to stop the sale of liquor. The women have alleged that two people are selling Mahua liquor in Binjhiya Tola and Upper Tola of ward no. 10. People enter the house after drinking alcohol and quarrel. This spoils the atmosphere of the house. Youngsters are also wasting their lives by drinking alcohol. The atmosphere of the village has deteriorated. Therefore, all the women came together and decided to protest to ban the sale of illegal liquor. Anita Tirkey and Vishwas Tirkey, who are leading the movement, said that if the administration does not take any action, the movement will further intensify. The women also held a demonstration demanding to stop the sale of liquor.

Rourkela: 120 bottles of foreign liquor seized, five arrested

Following the instructions of Rourkela Superintendent of Excise Sheikh Asif Ali, a raid was conducted near Dhamra Basti of Chhend Colony on Wednesday under the leadership of DSE Excise Archana Barik and Excise Inspector Mohan Pradhan. One autorickshaw, one bicycle, one Activa and 120 bottles of foreign liquor were seized. In this case, Hamid Khan (44) of Gopabandhupali, Deepak Gaur (42) of Sector-19, Shiv Hindocha (43) of Chhend LCR, Avtar Singh (34) of Uditnagar and Dilip Behera (54) of Chhend have been arrested. In this regard, Rourkela Superintendent of Excise Sheikh Asif Ali said that after the incident of death due to alcohol in Chikitti of Ganjam district, illegal liquor worth Rs 5-6 lakh was seized in the last 15 days.
