Speaking at the opening session of the World Food Summit India 2024 On September 19, at the Bharat Mandapam in Delhi, he highlighted the transformative potential of India’s food processing sector and emphasized the government’s entrepreneurial stance in promoting investments through various reforms.
The Minister underlined the importance of the mega event and highlighted that this gathering is aimed at fostering collaboration and innovation. He urged everyone to support the government’s efforts to maintain the growth momentum. “This global event will connect industry leaders to showcase innovations, unlock investment opportunities and position India as a major food hub. With a focus on empowerment SMEsBoosting India’s sourcing potential and promoting cutting-edge technologies, World Food India “It sets the stage for a transformative future in the food processing industry,” Bittu said in his speech.
Representatives from 26 Indian states and territories, as well as 18 central ministries and related government agencies, are taking part in this mega event. Delegates from over 90 countries are also taking part in World Food India.
Speaking at the event, Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Pralhad Joshi described the initiative as laudable in recognising the potential of the food and food processing sector. Joshi stressed the need to enhance the quality and branding of processed products.

He highlighted the vital role of the food processing sector in reducing agricultural waste, promoting value addition, ensuring food security and strengthen the supply chain from farm to fork. “We want all stakeholders in the industry to join this platform and support the growth of India’s food processing platform at national and international levels,” Paswan added.
