Xiaomi’s Redmi A4 5G with Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 unveiled at IMC 2024: Check details

Chinese smartphone maker Redmi has launched its latest smartphone in India, the Redmi A4 5G. As a sub-Rs 10,000 device, it is the first entry-level smartphone equipped with a Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chip. It is expected to be one of the most affordable 5G-capable devices and was launched at the annual India Mobile Congress (IMC) event. ) 2024 in New Delhi.

The company has announced that the smartphone will be launched in India “soon”; however, the date has not yet been confirmed. At the event, the device was launched in two color variants: black and white.

Powered by the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chipset, the device, according to a report, will feature a 6.52-inch HD+ display that supports a 90Hz refresh rate. The device is expected to have a dual camera setup, with a 50MP main camera and a 2MP depth sensor. For selfies, the device will have an 8MP selfie shooter.

The Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chipset is designed to ensure improved CPU performance, facilitating productivity and seamless multitasking. The user experience will be further enhanced with AI-powered audio and optimized entertainment experiences.

In a statement, Muralikrishnan B, President, Xiaomi India, said, “As we celebrate 10 years in India, the Redmi A4 5G marks an important milestone in our ongoing mission to bring advanced technology to every Indian. Designed exclusively for the Indian market, it embodies our vision of ‘5G for all’, bridging the digital divide.”

The report further suggests that the smartphone will pack a 5000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. The improved battery capacity ensures long-lasting usage and fast charging. Additionally, the device will come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

Other features expected on the Redmi A4 5G include support for dual-frequency (L1+L5) NavIC and GPS satellite systems. The device will offer several connectivity options, including dual-SIM 5G support, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC connectivity, and Wi-Fi. It will run on MIUI 15 based on Android 14.
