We couldn’t find common ground, so that didn’t happen. So I thought, let me rethink a little bit what I want to do with the film and go back a little bit further. Delve a little bit more into a ‘what made Don, Don’ type of story, and that’s when I started writing that. Then, that took on a life of its own and obviously I needed a younger actor to be there. Ranveer (Singh) seemed to me to be absolutely the right person for it.”
