Zomato shuts down Zomato Legends two years after its launch; here’s why

Gurugram-based food delivery giant Zomatothat competes with Swiggy is about to go publichas shut down ‘Zomato Legends’ two years after its launch with immediate effect.

Explaining the reason for the closure, CEO Deepinder Goyal, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), said the company was unable to find a suitable product-market fit for Zomato Legends.

“Update on Zomato Legends: After two years of trying and failing to find a product-market fit, we have decided to shut down the service with immediate effect,” Goyal said.

Zomato Legends Offer

In August 2022Zomato has launched ‘Zomato Legends’, an intercity food delivery service to offer consumers delicacies from ten cities across India, delivered directly to their homes.

For example, customers in Delhi could order Biryani from a famous restaurant in Hyderabad. The premium service offered a selection of restaurants known for their high-quality and consistently delicious food.

However, the service faced challenges, leading Zomato to quietly shut it down in April 2023. The company then relaunched the service in July of the same year.
